PS Unit Guideline
Geometry
Unit 3 Guideline
Day 1 (Oct 22 & 23) – Partner quiz over unit 2, then 1-9. When everyone is finished with the quiz go over unit 3 objectives. – Assignment PS (1-9)
Day 2 (Oct 24 & 27) – Do PS22 (resource page) with the class to start. There are quite a few drawings and charts on this assignment, so the resource page makes it more efficient. Just solve 11b. by graphing to save some time.
– Assignment PS (10-24)
Day 2.5 (Oct 28 & 29) Inequality worksheet odd problems
Day 3 (OCT 30 & Nov 2) – Lots of Geometry vocabulary starting today. Hand out the resource page PS33 at the beginning of class…students need to bring this daily as it will be used through out the unit like a toolkit.– Assignment PS (25-44)
Day 4 (Nov 3 & 4) –Do PS46 as a class. Students should be asking teacher if they got BP47 correct. Summarize two parallel lines cut by a transversal before the end of the class, and all the angle relationships – Assignment PS (45-60)
Day 5 (Nov 5 & 6) – For PS69, students should refer back to PS47 in their book since many will not have their resource pages anymore – Assignment PS (61-77)
Day 6 (Nov 9 & 10) – Teach graphing linear inequalities OR have students do PS78-81. Have students use different graph papers for 83 and 84 to avoid confusion. About 30-45 minutes into class, hand out construction paper and do PS92 together – Assignment PS (82-96)
Day 7 (Nov 11 & 16) – Quick lecture on remote interior & exterior angles of triangles – Assignment PS (97-112)
Day 8 (Nov 17 & 18) – Start off class with students going to the board doing summary type problems, then do summary and review – Assignment PS (113-122)
Day 9 (Nov 19 & 20) – Team Test… then review if time – Assignment Review
Day 10 (Nov 23 & 24) – DPSA MA-GM-02 – Start SV after dspa
*Folders Due Today!*
Remember: To avoid a zero, complete EVERY problem on each assignment. If you cannot do a problem, explain what is stopping you from completing it, and what you have tried. Show your work on problems when work is required. Be neat!! Do any bonus problems as the last problems on the assignment. And don’t forget hotmath.com for homework help.

Extra Credit Opportunity
In order to improve student organization and quality of work, at the end of every unit each student will have the opportunity to turn in a folder/binder that includes all of the assignments from the unit, in order and completed.
To get extra credit for the folder, all of the assignments for that unit need to be:
1) In order,
2) In the prongs of the folder/or the rings of the binder,
3) And complete.
The folder is due on the day of the test for that unit.
The student’s score on the folder will be averaged with each of the daily assignment grades for that unit. This allows the student to earn back more points for assignments that were not completed on the original due date. In addition, if the folder does not improve the student’s homework grades by at least 15 points, the remainder will be added to the score on the unit test.

Places to go for Homework Help!
Here are some websites where you might be able to find some additional instruction/practice/help on homework problems.
www.hotmath.com
Many of you are familiar with this website. I do have several cautions to advise while using this site: DO NOT sit at the computer to do your assignment...it is way to easy to keep hitting the next step button and to write down what it says. Do your assignment in the other room and come to the computer for help getting started and then go back to your assignment to complete the problem. If you find yourself referencing hotmath for the majority of the assignment, please come talk to me and we will figure out where the problem lies and find a solution.
www.coolmath.com
This website provides instruction on nearly every topic taught in algebra 2. Follow the links to the algebra section to find most of the topics for which you may need some additional instruction. This site also has some great math games that are a lot of fun.
http://cpm.org/students/index.htm
You can find lots of things on this website that will help you with your assignments at home. If you are missing resource pages you can find replacements here. If you are struggling with a specific skill, you can find skill builders here that will give you some additional practice. You will also find links to hotmath tutorials to help you out.
These are a start to the list, if you know of any others, please leave a comment and we will add it to the list.
